The Trend Xtend/24V is shortly to be discontinued.
What does this mean for your business?
The Xtend/24V enables older BMS controls’ networks operating on the IQ system current loop LAN, Ethernet, and Lonworks bus to be integrated into a single network. It also enables the Ethernet ability. The Xtend/24V was the replacement for the EINC, which converts Trend Lan to Ethernet. Therefore, if your EINC stopped working, the Xtend/24V could replace that, assuming you had a spare in stock.
If your Xtend or EINC becomes defective, it means that you won’t be able to see what’s going on in your buildings. Therefore, if you have a problem with overheating, overcooling, over or under humidity, you won’t be able to source the issue and there is a high chance that your entire network will need to be replaced. This would be highly disruptive and expensive, at a time when budgets may be under pressure due to the #Covid19 pandemic.
To put it in context, some of our clients running multi-site operations, which include hospitals, are running BMS controls’ networks deploying up to 25 Xtend/24Vs. We have calculated that if one Xtend/24V stops working and a spare cannot be sourced, it could cost that hospital trust, in excess of £30,000, to upgrade the entire network. Do you currently have contingency for this built into your building maintenance budget?
Multi-site organisations in other sectors, commonly in education, asset management, retail and manufacturing should be checking their BMS controls to understand if they are using Xtend and making urgent plans to replace / upgrade, or at the very least, purchasing spare Xtend units before they cease to be manufactured.
BOSS CONTROLS, as an authorised Trend Systems partner and always planning ahead, for an enhanced customer experience, have Trend Xtend/24V in stock.
