The LoCASE Grant and How We Used the Funding to Foster Green Innovation

Vicky Vaughan

The Low Carbon Across the South and East (LoCASE) grant was a pioneering initiative aimed at promoting clean growth and environmental responsibility among businesses in the South and East of the UK. Since 2016, the LoCASE programme generously provided grants to businesses for energy efficiency projects and sustainable business growth. The key advantage was that businesses weren't required to repay these grants.

Understanding the LoCase Grant

The Low Carbon Across the South and East (LoCASE) grant was a pioneering initiative aimed at promoting clean growth and environmental responsibility among businesses in the South and East of the UK. Since 2016, the LoCASE programme generously provided grants to businesses for energy efficiency projects and sustainable business growth. The key advantage was that businesses weren’t required to repay these grants.

Our Journey with LoCase

When we discovered the opportunity provided by the LoCASE grant, we knew it was a perfect match. The grant application involved detailing our vision for a green and innovative future. After receiving eligibility confirmation, we set out to identify various innovations that we’d like to integrate into our operations. With BOSS CONTROLS at the forefront of these advancements, we ensured that every piece of hardware and every initiative was not just about meeting requirements, but about surpassing them and setting industry benchmarks.

A substantial portion of the grant was allocated to hardware acquisition. We expanded our infrastructure with integrations controllers, unitary displays, and electric meters, among other essential items. The aim was not just to procure hardware, but to integrate these components in a way that would lead to tangible environmental benefits.

The entire process was a learning curve. We ordered the necessary equipment, provided invoice details, and even showcased the hardware through photos for grant approval. In total, we invested just under £4000 of which we received a substantial 40% back through the LoCASE grant.

The Impact

All the acquired hardware was rigorously tested in a demo environment. The end goal is to implement these innovations for our clients, ensuring that the benefits of our R&D translate into real-world applications. With the support of the LoCASE grant, we’re one step closer to a sustainable future.
